LifeSaver Driving Academy is a locally owned and operated driving school dedicated to equipping new drivers with the skills and knowledge to stay safe for life. Founded by John Powell, the academy was born from a deeply personal mission. After losing his father, grandfather, uncle, and high school girlfriend—tragically, all to preventable traffic accidents—John committed his life to making a difference through education.

John’s passion for teaching safe driving is evident in his students’ success. Over 95% pass the Kentucky State Police road test, with many earning perfect scores. But more importantly, John’s training focuses on long-term safety—reducing the risk of traffic accidents for the lifetime of each student.

Today, LifeSaver Driving Academy is proudly owned and operated by the Mixon Family — a local Bowling Green family dedicated to providing quality driver education with care, respect, and a commitment to safety. Driving lessons are led by Carolina Mixon, who was personally trained by founder John Powell. Originally from South America, Carolina has lived in the United States for over 32 years and brings both experience and compassion to every lesson. She shares John’s unwavering dedication to excellence and is honored to continue his legacy.
